[2017/October – Review] Empty Of The Month

Hi, I’m Lan, and I just start a new blog trying to satisfy my love with beauties!! I have an oily skin with some old acne scars!

This time, I’m back with a new review on some empties – about skincare products. Let’s go straight into our October’s empties.

The first product I want to mention is the Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner.

I purchased this at Ulta when I first came to the U.S. This was also the first time I used a Western skincare, and honestly, this toner did a great job on my skin. It didn’t irritate my skin, helped clean my pores, provided enough moisture for my skin. It also didn’t cause me any break out during the time I was using it.

This product claims to provide a clean and refreshing toning without harsh, drying effects of alcohol. In general, I like this one, but this is not my holy grail.

It’s comes in a plastic bottle, and the volume is around (250ml). The toner is in a liquid form, and the liquid is transparent. The only minus point for this toner is the smell. I think the scent was too strong for me.

Point: 3.5/5 – I’m not gonna repurchase this one, and it also has a down side for me.

The second one is a skincare product from Cosrx – AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner

This toner is my favorite, my holy grail toner during winter, spring, and especially summer. It did a great job on calming down my acne scars, cleaned up my pores, and also exfoliated some dead skins (since there were AHA/BHA) inside.

Furthermore, the scent was very light, not too strong compared to the Neutrogena toner. The product came in a simple plastic bottle, and I think it’s okay to use the toner as a mist. What I usually do is spray the toner underneath my sunscreen, then put on some foundation or cushion.

Importantly, the toner doesn’t cause any breakout during the time I’m using it. I still have a little bit of it and only use a tiny amount of it because I’m still waiting for my next bottle to come. I just repurchase this one from Stylekorean.com

Point: 5/5 – since so far I haven’t seen any down sides of this!

[2021 Update: I’m still having at least an extra bottle of this toner at home! Still my favorite product for fighting against acne scars!]

The final empty is the Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

This essence was great for winter since it helped moisturize my skin. The texture of this is a typical snail texture: really sticky but light-weighted. It seems like this one has a high concentrate of snail extract!

The only down side from this was I didn’t see my acne scars fading. However, it didn’t irritate my skin, and my skin didn’t secret a lot oil after I woke up in the morning.

The packaging was simple, and the scent was fresh (maybe… snail scents….??)

Point: 4/5 – It did a great job on moisturizing my skin, but it didn’t help fading my acne scars. I won’t repurchase this one. However, it’s a good product from Cosrx!
